Client is a leader in Space Systems technologies.  They employ over 40,000 people globally in 26 countries.  This a key leadership position reporting to the Materials Manager.  Your role will be to oversee the planning, production and control functions of the Space Systems business unit at the facility.  You will have supervisory responsibility for Planners on a first shift operation, and possibly a second shift operation, in the daily performance of material planning and production control functions.  Will relocate from anywhere in the USA.
  • Schedule work. You will attend production schedule meetings and interface with Program Managers/Integrated Product Team Leads for multiple programs in order to maintain overall visibility of the organization’s support requirements.   You will assist with workload management and project assignment as well as the development of a resource management plan.
  • Manage personnel.   Your role will be to provide mentoring and coaching, perform performance reviews, establish individual career development plans, perform on-boarding and de-boarding actions, conduct new hire and refresher training, support hiring activities, organize consistent one-on-one and team communications and instill adherence to standard processes.
  • Provide technical guidance.  You will support the development and implementation of tools, applications and processes to improve performance efficiency.  In addition, you will administer and execute policies, processes and procedures to establish standard work practices that sustain a benchmark of material management excellence.
  • Drive continuous improvement.  You will apply lean techniques in support of operations excellence, program execution and the organization’s goals and objectives.   As a supervisor, you would emphasize quality and safety and foster a rigorous technical discipline to meet the requirements of delivering high value components.
  • Adopt a forward thinking approach.   You will work with Program management, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering and Operations organizations to develop and execute plans to meet future program needs.


Required qualifications:

  • Min 4 years’ experience as a material planner/production controller with supervisory experience in a dynamic production environment
  • Strong leadership, team-building and interpersonal skills as well as the tenacity to develop and motivate a team of diverse individuals
  • Ability to multi-task and support several projects at once within tight deadlines
  • Technical aptitude with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with lean management principles and process improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work over and above a standard 40 hour week, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with aerospace manufacturing and assembly operations
  • Familiarity with International Trade Compliance Regulations
  • APICS CSCP or CPIM Certification
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
  • Proficient use of SAP and Microsoft Excel
